SLP Performance

SLP Performance Products and Accessories

Established in 1987, SLP has stood for quality performance enhancements for late-model American Muscle cars from the beginning, and it continues this commitment today. SLP's initial claim to fame says it all: It was the first company in the performance aftermarket to develop and manufacture a 50-state emission-legal performance package -- specifically for V8 Camaros and Firebirds. True to its name ("Street Legal Performance"), the vision of SLP's part program is to not just provide performance, but to do so with the best engineering practices and quality possible, far exceeding the industry standards.

SLP offers a wide range of performance enhancements to the American muscle car. SLP also provides best-in-class performance upgrades in the following product categories:

  • Blackwing Cold Air Intakes
  • Loudmouth Exhausts
  • Accessories
  • Interior

Suspension & Chassis » Springs - Coil Lowering Springs

Coil Springs, Lowering Springs, Lift Springs, Sport Springs, OE Ride Height Springs

Do lowering springs improve performance?

Assuming the springs are good quality, yes. Typically, the lowering springs have higher spring rates, which improves weight transfer, responsiveness and acceleration.

Do lowering springs hurt ride quality?

No. Most street and sport lowering springs are designed to ride as close to factory as possible, maintaining similar suspension travel, and minimal (up to 15% higher) spring rates. Additionally, most progressive rate street and sport springs keep the factory spring rates for the first 25-20% of spring travel, which preserves that factory ride quality.

Can I improve my spring performance without lowering my vehicle?

Yes. Several brands offer “OE Ride Height” performance springs that provide the improved handling characteristics, without lowering the vehicle stance.

Do you need an alignment after replacing springs?

Yes. You will need an alignment after replacing springs, whether lowering, stock or lifting.
