What is a shift kit?
A shift kit is a set of automatic transmission components designed to improve how well your vehicle shifts between gears. A shift kit modifies the transmission's shift timing in order to dramatically increase shift firmness and durability of the transmission components. Does a shift kit improve performance?
Yes. A shift kit (or shift improvement kit) will firm-up the shifts in your automatic transmission by making them happen quicker, thus reducing clutch and band slippage. A good kit can help extend transmission life. Some shift kits can also change the rpm where the shifts happen, which also improves performance.
