What is an air filter box?

The air filter box, also known as an air box, is the component of the air intake system that houses the air filter. Unlike other parts of your vehicle, the air box does not have a set maintenance or replacement schedule.

What does an air box do?

An air box is an empty chamber on the inlet side of most combustion engines. It collects ambient air from outside the engine bay and feeds it to the intake hoses of each cylinder. The airbox allows the use of one air filter instead of multiples, reducing complexity.
