BBK Performance

BBK Performance Cold Air Intake, Throttle Bodies, Exhaust & Headers, Fuel Systems and Suspension Products

The BBK brand has been synonymous with bolt on performance for the modern muscle car since its beginning in 1988. BBK founders Brian & Ken Murphy designed and developed the first aftermarket air intake systems & performance throttle bodies for the new fuel injected 5.0L Mustang and TPI Camaro models. Back then, nobody even knew what an air intake or throttle body was because people were just learning about these modern day fuel-injected pony cars that Detroit had begun to produce.

Fast forward to today and many enthusiasts have only grown up on computer-controlled fuel injection with a vocabulary full of upgrade items such as throttle body, air intake & mass air meter, and have never driven a carbureted equipped vehicle. It’s this early experience and years of research & development, along with millions of dedicated enthusiasts that have allowed the BBK brand to grow into the largest source of late-model performance products for today’s cars & trucks.

BBK’s manufacturing campus includes a top notch CNC machine division along with a state of the art exhaust division using a combination of skilled hand craftsmanship with a blend of CNC bending & robotic welding for maximum quality in every BBK product. The BBK motto is “American Designed & Built” and that is something the entire BBK team is proud of and will never change. If you are the owner of a late-model Dodge, Ford or GM vehicle, and you are looking to upgrade your performance while maintaining OEM quality & drivability, Accesspeed offers all BBK Performance products for your ride.

Do aftermarket high performance air filters add horsepower and torque compared to stock?

Yes, aftermarket performance air filters can increase your horsepower and torque. If you are upgrading from a brand-new OEM factory filter, you may notice a slight difference, but the true results are typically discovered on the dyno or the racetrack. At the same time, your engine will enjoy increased fuel efficiency, but only if you can keep your throttle foot away from the floor board.

High Performance Air Filters and Replacement Air Filters

Do aftermarket high performance air filters add horsepower and torque compared to stock?

Yes, aftermarket performance air filters can increase your horsepower and torque. If you are upgrading from a brand-new OEM factory filter, you may notice a slight difference, but the true results are typically discovered on the dyno or the racetrack. At the same time, your engine will enjoy increased fuel efficiency, but only if you can keep your throttle foot away from the floor board.

How Often Should You Change the Engine Air Filter?

The best answer is to follow the owner’s manual suggestion for your vehicle and engine. However, if you drive in more adverse conditions, such as dirt and salty roads, Accesspeed suggests inspecting and (when needed) changing your air filter more frequently. Make sure you document the mileage each time you replace your air filter.

What are the common signs and symptoms of a bad air filter?

  • Check Engine Light comes on.
  • Noticeable reduction in fuel economy.
  • Noticeable reduced in performance.
  • Air filter appears very dirty upon inspection.
  • Engine misfires or sputters.
  • Unusual engine sounds.
  • Smell of gasoline when starting the car.
  • Black sooty smoke or flames exiting the exhaust.

Does changing the air filter make a difference?

Replacing a dirty air filter can increase fuel efficiency and improve performance. A dirty, clogged, or damaged air filter limits the amount of air flowing into your engine. This limitation forces your engine to work harder, reducing performance and fuel efficiency.

Do aftermarket air filters improve performance?

Yes, aftermarket performance air filters can improve performance, as proven by dyno and track results thousands of shops and racers.
