DEAL TRONIC, DEAL TRONIC LLC, TALBERT FOSTER DEHAVEN III | DEAL WITH CAUTION #147

Friends and Colleagues:

We share these pages exclusively for the aftermarket manufacturers and retailers as a DWC (Deal With Caution) to help you all avoid selling to someone who may have nefarious intent, anger issues, or just a lack the common sense to contact you before leaving negative feedback about an issue, especially a reasonably basic issue such as the manufacturer inadvertently omitting the instructions from a box. (This case.) We will report this buyer to all Bad Buyer Apps and Websites shortly. As always, we truly appreciate the DWC Buyers you all share with us as well. All Buyer information was sourced publicly using Google.

Thank you!

Happy Motoring!

SUMMARY

We sold this buyer a Corvette C8 VDI McLaren Style ZLR Door Kit on eBay. The order came in while our warehouse was closed over Memorial Day Weekend. The buyer was initially upset because we did not ship the kit out on Memorial Day Weekend while we were closed. (Perhaps, just a lack of common sense.) As soon as we reopened on the next business day, we processed the order and realized that we had sold-out of all C8 ZLR kits, so VDI (the manufacturer) agreed to ship direct to our buyer, as they often do when we run out of stock. When the buyer received the item, evidently VDI forgot to include the installation instructions. Stuff happens, but instead of contacting us or the VDI to help resolve the issue and have us email the instructions, the buyer leaves exaggerated and angry negative feedback. Every subsequent attempt we made to work with the buyer resulted in him getting angrier. His messages became angrier and angrier (with the use of all caps as yelling) as we attempted to resolve the issue. He refused to take our calls or leave messages when he called us, which was a red flag and similar to how scam buyers act when they want a discount or refund. Now, this buyer is posting lies and exaggerations about us everywhere he can on Facebook, calling us liars. The irony is that we are seeing a sizeable traffic increase from Facebook since he started his campaign, and the CTB ratio is high, selling Corvette C8 parts, Nissan 370Z parts and Corvette C7 parts. We are happy to see that buyers from Forums and Facebook Groups like C8 Corvette, Corvette Owners Group, C8 Corvette Enthusiasts, C8 Corvette Classifieds, Corvette C8 Z06, C8 Corvette Owners (And Friends), C8 Corvette Trade and Sell, C8 Corvette, Z06 & E-Ray, C8 Corvette Owners, CorvetteForum.com and the Nissan 370z Z34 Groups are doing their own homework and supporting Accesspeed.

We filed a complaint with eBay and provided the details shown on this page, as the buyer is showing the same pattern that other buyers show when they are attempting to circumvent ebay and extort us for a refund. They advised that it can take up to 30 days to research our request and decide. We know, ebay never removes feedback, but we are more concerned about transparency with Talbert Foster DeHaven III (aka Deal Tronic LLC), we feel that it is important for other sellers to be aware and know the facts. Additionally, in the name of full transparency, we have pasted the entire chain of correspondence between the buyer and us at the bottom under Sequence of Events, as this page is referenced for eBay. Additionally, we will post this on any forum, group and website on which we find the buyer attempting to continue his campaign.

EBAY FEEDBACK:

Fact 1:

We have been selling so many VDI C8 kits, we ran out of the ZLR C8 kits and had Vertical Doors drop-ship a handful for us, WITH NO DELAYS IN SHIPPING. Of the ZLR C8 kits drop-shipped by VDI, this one was missing the instructions. (This was a first for us with VDI, by the way.)  Blame us or blame VDI, but we never had possession of the kit, so we had no way of knowing whether or not the instructions were in the box. That is an honest mistake by VDI, but this buyer seems to want to hold us accountable for a manufacturer mistake. OK, even if it is not our fault, we end up owning it. We accept that.

Fact 2:

The eBay record shows that we did everything possible to remedy the situation, but the buyer failed to contact us or VDI before leaving feedback, and he refused to speak with us throughout the process. A simple phone call can go a long way. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible sending instructions, and we even offered to let the buyer return the product for a 100% refund.

Fact 3:

The buyer showed a pattern that we have witnessed in the past. He was unreasonable and erratic, seeming to lack common sense, and he failed to understand how simple it would be to calmly request instructions BEFORE leaving negative feedback. When we offered a 100% refund to return the product, he declined. THIS is a pattern consistent with fraudulent behavior, such as making threats about filing complaints in order to garner a discount or refund. We do not respond to threats, as they have led to the buyer trying to get a refund or discount outside of eBay.

Fact 4:

The buyer lied. He lied in his feedback, as well. You can clearly see from the images below of his posts online bragging about how he loves the door kit.
