What is a 5-point harness?

A five-point harness restraint is a form of racing seat belt that contains five straps that are mounted to the car frame. Similar to the four-point restraint system, the five-point harness adds a fifth safety belt that runs from the bottom of the latch down under the front of the seat, helping to keep your pelvis from moving forward.  This form of seat belt has been mandated by NASCAR and other motorsport sanctioning bodies as the minimum requirement.
