Be VERY cautious of outlandish performance claims made by others promising "V8 type" performance improvements on the new V6 Mustang. While we would love to claim that this system performs just as well as the 26-31 HP gains that can be realized by our 3V GT systems, you have to consider that your improvements are proportional to your starting power level. A new V6 Mustang makes roughly 2/3rds the power of the V8 model, and it would be unrealistic to believe that the same type of air intake and tuning modifications would make more than 2/3rds the improvement of what the V8 models receive. The MINIMUM improvement that our V8 combo provides is typically 23 rear wheel horsepower. 2/3rds of that amount equals 15.18 HP, which is actually pretty close to the results that you will see here in our testing. It must be noted that our test vehicle came equipped with low octane fuel so most of the testing was using 87 and 91 octane timing levels. We tried to improve the octane of our test vehicle by topping the tank off with 93 octane, but we were unable to find benefit in more aggressive tuning due to the fact that we were not running a tank of "true" high octane fuel. So it is possible that someone who is running nothing but premium unleaded would be able to achieve better results than in our testing.

The baseline/stock testing showed an air/fuel ratio which hovered between 13.4 and 13.5:1, which is actually a little leaner than ideal. The factory stock timing level peaked at only 19 degrees of total advance. The "After" dyno pull shows the performance that was achieved with our complete air intake assembly running an average of 13.0:1 and a total timing level of only 26 degrees. Some would consider this to be an "87 octane" tune, but we feel that it is probably a couple of degrees too aggressive for most vehicles with low grade fuel. Since we were running a fuel blend which is lower than your typical premium fuel, we were unable to make more power when raising the timing up to the 29 to 30 degree level that is delivered in the higher octane tunes. If we had a tank of strictly premium fuel, it is possible that we may have found a little more power.

When you purchase our complete air intake upgrade, you will receive everything to replace the entire air intake assembly from the throttle body forward. This includes V6 specific C&L Trueflow air inlet tube with hoses/clamps/fittings, an upgrade 83mm CNC machined aluminum mass airflow housing, conical air filter assembly, filter shroud assembly, installation tool and instructions. When installing this or ANY aftermarket air intake upgrade that replaces the factory air filter and meter assembly, you must make the necessary tuning adjustments to your computer. If not, your air/fuel ratio will run considerably leaner than stock and the vehicle will not operate properly, causing undesirable driving conditions. To make these modifications easier for the end user, we have worked closely with Diablosport to develop a C&L specific Predator tuner (part #CL7140) which comes pre-loaded with all of the tunes necessary to support all of the existing computer box codes in the 2005-2008 Mustang vehicles. Once this tuner is plugged into the vehicles' interface under the dashboard, it will automatically recognize which computer your car is equipped with and will offer a selection of tunes to support stock timing, 87 octane, 91 octane and 93 octane fuel. Once selected, the tuner will make all of the necessary adjustments to the computer to support the upgrade air intake assembly as well as the timing adjustments that are appropriate for your fuel grade. It is strongly suggested that you purchase our combo that comes complete with our custom Predator tuner, as using other tuning options (even the standard Diablosport Predator for your vehicle) will require a bit of extra effort to install a "custom tune" to support any aftermarket air intake assembly.
